Second Inning Friends
Lets be friends
In our second
inning of life
How much richer
are we,
By the joys,
failings and sorrows
Of the inning
first
Which we played,
without rehearsals
Unaware of
whirl-wheel of time, quirks of fate
Unprepared for
things, not to our taste
Now is the life
More livable, more
enjoyable
No expectations of
any kind, from the other
Yet ever ready to
share, one’s own pleasure
In gratitude, for
everyday’s bonus
That the life
bestows, on us together
To enliven the flagging
spirits
For living the
dreams, long cherished
To become
somebody’s heart-throb
Yet again, before
we perish
Come, lets be
friends
